Hello,
Welcome to health care magic.
I have read your question completely and understand your concerns
From what you have written about your symptoms , I suspect you may be having Morton's Neuroma. This is a condition in which the tissue surrounding one of the nerves supplying to the ball and toes of your feet gets irritated and thickens. This gives rise to pain, burning sensation or
numbness. You may even feel that you are standing on a pebble.
Sometimes a bony projection of the fore foot bone called a bony spur can cause similar pain. Similarly
stress fracture can give similar picture but I guess it is a bit unlikely in your case as your symptoms have been for 2 years .
X rays can identify if there is a bony spur or stress fracture.
Ultrasound can help to identify Mortons neuroma
Treatment of a neuroma and bony spur is by using foot pads or insoles or supports that support your arch. Place these inside a well fitting shoe. They relieve the painful area of the foot from excess pressure. Bony spur also benefit from
physiotherapy exercises.
You can take anti inflammatory medication like
Naproxen 250-500 mg twice a day or
Ibuprofen 200-400 mg three times a day ( I hope you are not allergic to them).
Steroid injections into the affected area may help. Surgical procedures include decompression of the structures compressing the nerve or removal of the neuroma itself. Likewise a bony spur can be surgically removed.
I would advise you to see a orthopaedic doctor or a foot surgeon so that you can have a proper evaluation.
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you
Regards
